Water-Loving Iris Collection

This collection is comprised of 3 components.

Louisiana Iris ‘Bold Pretender’ . Magnificent blooms in two shades of red top these super-hardy native plants for many weeks in summer. The upper petals (standards) and a brilliant watermelon-red, while the lower petals (falls) are a deeper rose-red with a prominent yellow stroke. Perfect for poorly-drained garden spots and unbeatable along the banks of a pond or other water source, this plant is utterly carefree and prepared to multiply wonderfully! Give it full sun in the north, afternoon shade farther south. 36 inches high. Zones 3-9. Qty 1 Bareroot. Zones 3 – 9.

Iris Chrysographes. Such a rich deep purple-maroon they appear black from a distance, the 3-inch blooms on this Goldvein iris are stunning. The falls are shot with slim golden stripes on this hard-to-find Chinese native, adding to its ornamental appeal. Best in constantly damp soil, such as marshes, waterside plantings, and other boggy areas. Bareroot. Qty 1 Bareroot. Zones 5 – 8.

Iris louisiana ‘Black Gamecock’. Extremely vigorous, these huge, gold-throated 6-inch blooms are a rich velvety purple-black. Perfect for waterside plantings, damp soils, and garden trouble spots, this hardy native perennial prefers only enriched soil and moisture to thrive and spread for years to come! Tolerates heat, humidity, and cold; and is resistant to pests or disease. Plant 1 to 2 feet apart. Bareroot. Qty 1 Bareroot. Zones 4 – 9.
