Low-growing, but Spreads up to 7 Feet Wide Masses of brilliant crimson blooms all summer.
The farthest-spreading groundcover Rose we have ever seen, Red Ribbons is a highly disease-resistant, low-growing shrub with masses of brilliant crimson blooms over a long summer season. Bred in Germany and hardy through zone 9b in our hot, humid American summers, it is a treasure for mass planting or the front of the Rose garden. The flowers are about 1 1/2 inches wide, with a petal count of 20 to 25. They open from the classic pointed ovoid bud of hybrid teas, and release a light, very sweet fragrance all summer. Expect them in large clusters all over this vigorous, well-branched shrub, which reaches just 2 to 2 1/2 feet tall but spreads 5 to 7 feet wide in no time.
Talk about quick coverage!Descended from R. Weisse Max Graf x R. ‘Walzertraum,’ Red Ribbons? comes by its beauty and disease resistance honestly. It is very resistant to blackspot, mildew, and other foliar diseases, and its heat and humidity tolerance is superb. A fine choice for very warm climates where other Roses may be unhappy, it is a robust performer in full sun and well-enriched soil. Pair it with Yellow Ribbons? for superb contrast, or let it take over any bare, sun-soaked soil. It never disappoints. Zones 6b-9b.Ships in a 6-inch deep pot.
