Iris ‘Jennifer Rebecca’

Reblooms Heavily at Season’s End — Often into Autumn!

The flowers are lightly fragrant.

A reblooming Tall Bearded Iris that never disappoints, ‘Jennifer Rebecca’ has been known to extend its bloomtime from the first heavy flush in late spring to a few final blooms in autumn! A very dependable and generous bloomer, it is one of the best choices for hard-to-find pink and purple tones in the Iris garden.

Introduced by Zurbrigg in 1985, this vigorous cultivar reaches 30 to 36 inches high, setting its first and heaviest flush of flowers in late spring. The blooms are heavily ruffled, faintly fragrant, and colored in pastel tones of pink (standards) and lavender (falls). An orange-pink beard stars the bloom, and faint orange-to-gold flushes are visible on the standards as well. Magnificent!

The plant then rests through the hottest summer weather, reblooming in late summer and occasionally into fall. This second flowering is greatly appreciated in most gardens, coming as it does during that “in between” time when most summer bloomers have faded and the fall color has not yet begun. Excellent for cutting, ‘Jennifer Rebecca’ also brings butterflies into the border.

Very adaptable to differing soil types, this plant tolerates heat, humidity, cold, and even (once established) periods of drought, though best flowering is always in rich, moist soil. Make it an integral part of your landscape for dependable, choice color over two seasons. Zones 3-10.
