Iris ‘Best Bet’

A Reliable Repeater

The classic combination of light and dark blue is handsome in the garden and highly prized in cutflower arrangements.

The classic blue tones of this Iris make it a favorite in garden or vase, and its dependable repeat-flowering set it above those tall Bearded Irises with only a single season of color. ‘Best Bet’ is a mainstay of any Iris garden, and belongs front and center in the sunny to lightly shaded border.

The first and heaviest flush of blooms in is late spring and early summer. The blooms are exquisitely held in a narrowly upright fashion, their ruffling turned inward on the standards, down on the falls. The contrast of sky-blue standards and navy-blue falls is exquisite, punctuated by a tiny orange beard. Splendid!

This plant reaches 3 feet tall and 18 to 24 inches wide, a stately presence suitable for the middle to rear of the Iris display. Very adaptable to differing soil types, this plant tolerates heat, humidity, cold, and even (once established) periods of drought, though best flowering is always in rich, moist soil. Make it an integral part of your landscape for dependable, choice color over two seasons. Zones 3-8.
