Showy white twice-double blooms arise in late summer and early fall, after most Hostas have passed.
This is a Hosta you can really fall in love with! Venus — a sport of the dramatic Aphrodite — exhibits sweetly scented flowers of a twice-double form. The petal count of this beauty is between 24 and 28. Venus resembles night-blooming cactus and fills the late summer and early fall with its fragrant, stunning flowers. When other Hostas have passed, you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy Venus. Boasting leathery foliage, mature plants reach 18 inches high and 24 inches wide. Selected in Michigan and vegetatively propagated to ensure uniformity, Hosta plantaginea Venus originally arose at the Beijing Botanic Garden. Plant in light to medium shade in well-drained moisture retentive soil enriched with organics. Mature plant makes a lovely woodland specimen and a striking cut flower. Zones 3-8.
