A hard-to-locate legendary plant, the Christmas Rose is much loved by gardeners worldwide!
Growing 10 to 12 inches high, it is indispensable for its three months of bloom in winter and earliest spring, when the garden is at its lowest ebb; in fact, in areas with moderate winters, this hellebore’s blooming tends to be earlier still, some plants even oblige with Christmas blossoms.
Large, 1 1/2-inch flowers open white, mature to dusty pink, and literally last for months. Garden value is further enhanced by the palmlike, evergreen, leathery leaves, which provide bold texture and color in the landscape.
Hardiness: Zones 3-8.
