Smells Like a Rose.
Another in the fine Big Sky™ series of Echinaceas.
Plant Patent #17,651
‘Twilight’ doesn’t just smell good — it smells almost exactly like a Rose! These big rosy-red blooms generously share their scent with the entire garden, so you can imagine how a bouquet of cutflowers will perfume the home.
A hybrid of E. purpurea and E. paradoxa, ‘Twilight’ is another in the fine Big Sky™ series of new Echinaceas. Like its cousins, ‘Twilight’ sports a new color for the family — rich rosy-red — on large, long-lasting blooms. Expect the flowers to begin in early summer and to continue without cease till mid-fall, or whenever the temperature drops for good. Such incredible flower power.
Very compact, ‘Twilight’ reaches just 24 to 30 inches high and 18 to 24 inches wide. Yet it’s well-branched and vigorous, with less foliage and more flowering stems than older varieties.
If you are a butterfly lover, ‘Twilight’ will be the centerpiece of your sunny garden. Butterflies adore the large central brown cone of the bloom during summer, and then in autumn, after the seeds within the cone dry out, songbirds come to feast. Be sure to let the final blooms remain on the plant even after the petals drop, so the birds can enjoy every last seed.
Big Sky™ Echinaceas are bred by Saul Nurseries, and have created a sensation in the gardening world. Zones 4-9.
