Daisy Highland White Dream

Daisy Highland White Dream

Exceptionally long-lasting, hardy, and floriferous Shasta Daisy.

Every garden needs one plant that blooms its head off for months and months, with minimal attention from you. Every garden also needs a showpiece flower, easy to grow but fabulous and exotic in the vase. And when you can get both of these things in one plant, you know you’ve got a winner. ‘Highland White Dream’ is a standout performer that wows visitors in indoor arrangements, fills the garden with snowy color, and practically grows itself.

The snowy white blooms are 4 to 5 inches wide and semi-double, arising on strong-stemmed plants that never need staking, even when in heavy bloom. The flowers begin in early summer and continue well into fall. This Shasta is also renowned for its long-lived hardiness. This plant reaches 3 feet tall and about 2 to 2 1/2 feet wide in the sunny garden, indifferent to soil quality, heat, humidity, cold, and other vagaries of nature. Given good drainage and adequate water, ‘Highland White Dream’ will outperform all other Shastas. And it should — although fairly new to market, this Shasta Daisy has been in breeding since 1954, and has been trialed everywhere from Finland to New Zealand.

Routinely scoring near-perfect marks in cutflower competitions, it is the centerpiece of any bouquet, and its go-anywhere color and simple daisy form make it flexible — dress it up Poppies or let it romp among Scabiosas! Later in the season, it’s a delightful companion to Asters. An indispensable plant for any garden.
