Delicious Treat Straight From the Tree.
Though you may enjoy it raw, this Russian Quince is at its best in jams and baked goods. Cydonia oblonga Russian Quince is easy to cultivate and exceptional in flower and fruit. This small tree from Russia deserves much wider visibility in U.S. gardens. Large white blooms in spring are succeeded by huge, waxy, highly fragrant yellow fruit. Quince is used in jams and baked goods in much of Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, but the tender, fruit of this tree is so delicious you will probably eat it raw.
Zones 5-9.
