Crocus are practically synonymous with spring, and most of us are thoroughly familiar with the bold Dutch Hybrids that, grouped together in the border edge or sprinkled in the lawn, bring welcome news that winter is almost over. Far less well-known, and therefore perhaps even more worthy of inclusion in your garden, are the species crocus, whose blooms are smaller than their well-known cousins’, but are produced in greater abundance. Their flowers open extremely early in the spring, several weeks earlier than the Dutch Crocus. In addition to extending the crocus season, they add different colors and color combinations as well as a variety of forms and habits to the spectrum of crocus.

Very easy to grow, they will increase with the years, returning each spring to signal the end of winter. Our mixture is carefully balanced and encompasses a number of rare species and their cultivars to enrich the gardening experience of anyone who plants these early spring gems. Zones 3-9.
