An incredible ever blooming Astrantia, with brilliant 2-inch blooms.The bloom strength of this new Dutch Astrantia is nothing short of incredible!

Over many weeks in late spring and early summer, it sets hundreds of brilliant ruby red flowers on long, wiry stems, indifferent to the weather and so numerous you can pick a giant bouquet without making a dent in the look of the plant. Far and away the most floriferous Astrantia ever grown, ‘Venice’ is a powerhouse that must be grown to be believed.When mature, a single plant (just 22 inches high and about 13 inches wide) yields more than 600 blooms a season. It seems impossible, we know — yet wait until you see this ever bloomer continuously setting new buds.

Each flowering stem bears about 80 blooms, and when you consider that there are at least 8 flowering stems per plant, the numbers add up pretty quickly. Butterflies adore these blooms, of course, and the handsome green foliage completely vanishes beneath the radiant canopy of color at the height of bloom season. Each flower is about 2 inches wide, with a skirt of long, slender, pointed petals beneath a large fuzzy pompon of ruby red to burgundy, flecked with white to cream. One of the best perennials for cutflowers, Astrantia has long been popular in Europe but is only now making its way into American gardens. The blooms are spectacularly long-lasting and colorful, with a papery texture and layers of bright color. This plant is easy to grow in very moist soil in sun or part shade. Make it part of your garden this season.

The flowers measure 3 to 3 1/2 inches wide, with outer bracts of deep ruby red, inner florets of bright pink, and a base of pale green and white. They resemble a giant jeweled brooch, clustered atop strong, slender stems. Expect them to arise in waves from late spring through early fall on this ultra-floriferous plant.Given a good siting, ‘Ruby Cloud’ will naturalize freely in your garden. It reaches 30 inches high and 18 to 24 inches wide. Be sure to leave the final autumn blooms on the plant; they will dry and form elegant silhouettes that last into winter.

From late spring through the middle of autumn, it sets new clusters of violet-blue blooms all over the place. It is grown as a groundcover, but it may become one of your favorite flowering perennials, too.One of the longest-blooming plants in any garden, its 2-inch bloom clusters attract butterflies and bees. The stems can reach up to 10 inches high, held above the 7-inch-high foliage of dark green. ‘Freelander Blue’ is a quick spreader, reaching 18 to 24 inches wide to really cover some ground!Great as edging, in the border, and even in containers, this perennial thrives in full sun to partial shade. Try it this season and find out just how ornamental a ground cover can be.

White Bleeding Heart is in bloom by mid-spring in most climates, its merry heart-shaped blooms on long, slender stems looking like a row of washing on a clothesline!

Remaining colorful for weeks, it complements spring-blooming bulbs and offers bright colors while other shade-loving perennials are still waking up from winter.These blooms crowd along the stem, very abundant and beautiful. They complement all surrounding colors, of course, and pave the way for the hostas, ferns, and astilbes to come.

Then in midsummer, as the rest of the shade perennials are in full glory, the lovely bright green foliage goes dormant. Perfect timing!White Bleeding Heart reaches 2 to 2 1/2 feet in bloom, and up to 2 feet wide. It has fresh, nicely divided foliage that may remind you of a fern, and it is quite easy to grow. Give it a place it likes and it will even self-sow, increasing your bleeding heart garden with each passing year.

Put away those cumbersome stakes and twine–this mini pink Delphinium never needs support!

The delphinium bloom stalks are about a foot long atop 24- to 28-inch plants, with flowers crowded all long the spike for a very bushy, colorful effect. The only choice for the front of the border or for smaller gardens, where vertical color without too much height is appreciated. Magic Fountain blooms in early to midsummer. If started indoors in late winter, this Delphinium should bloom late in the season its first year, then on schedule thereafter.

It does best in full sun or, in warmer climates, partial shade. Once the plant is established, shear it back almost to the ground right after flowering to encourage a second bloom in fall. Delphinium also appreciates a year-round mulch.
